One Day Closet Makeover
Do you have a nagging spot in your house that you just can’t get together? Are there doors that you just keep closed for fear that opening them will result in an avalanche of ‘stuff’.
This closet was packed to the brim with clothes, shoes and other items. In one day, it went from filled to free as did a corresponding dresser.
After only 6 hours, we rescued this closet and the clothes inside along with a nearby dresser. Giving the owner a whole new wardrobe to take advantage of.
Sorting clothes can be a quick way to give yourself a lot of space and a rejuvenated closet. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
- Only keep items that you love that make you feel fantastic!
- If you have not worn something in a year, chances are it is time to let it go
- Pick a charity, like a women’s shelter, to donate to so that your purging has a purpose, take it to be donated the same day
- Group remaining items by type so that it will be easy to grab a pair of pants and put clothes away (added bonus, if you have 25 pairs of jeans, your excess will stand out and it will be easier to identify what to give away!)
- Put socks, undies and other small items in bins or dresser drawers to make it easier to access them and put them away.
- Invest in a shoe rack for the floor or one that hooks to the closet door, you will be happier if you can grab a pair of shoes quickly!
