[Bel Air, Maryland] April 3, 2011 – Could you be holding the strangest unwanted item in Harford County? Clear Your Clutter Day organizers announced today that as part of their upcoming clutter-busting initiative they will hold a contest for the strangest item dropped off during the event.
Timed to coincide with Earth Month, Clear Your Clutter Day will take place on Saturday, April 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Harford Community College’s Fallston parking lot. Harford Community College and Sappari Solutions Professional Organizers are organizing the event to help Harford County residents get rid of household clutter in an environmentally-responsible way.
According to Sappari Solutions owner Nettie Owens, “Whether it is a closet that isn’t safe to open or a pile of unwanted items that need a good home, this team wants you to bring it out for Clear Your Clutter Day and keep it out of the dump. As for the contest, we figured why not have a little fun along the way?”
Eight event partners including Always Recycling, Friends of the Harford County Public Library and Goodwill, will be on hand to collect electronics, scrap metal, appliances, flattened cardboard boxes, books, DVD’s in good condition, clothing, toys, household goods, paper, batteries (including 9V), paper to be shredded, plastic grocery bags, prescription medications and eye glasses.
Attendees can bring one carload of items and shred up to one bag of paper at no cost thanks to the support of event sponsors Harford Bank and Always Recycling, among others. All proceeds from sponsorships will benefit Harford Habitat for Humanity.
Goody bags will be provided to the first 200 cars attending and will include information and coupons from our sponsors. Participants will also find additional information on where to take unwanted items year round.
The “Strangest Item” contest winner will receive a free one-month gym membership courtesy of the Arena Club.
